This was one of those afternoons that will go down in the rich history of the game. England just needed a point to qualify, but in typical fashion, were losing to a lowly Greece side. Blamed and shamed for England's exit in France '98, Beckham carried a heavy burden of hate on his shoulders whatever stadium he travelled too. But he seemed to be the only one on the pitch during this game, playing out of his skin to restore his and his Country's pride. With less than a minute left to play he was rewarded with a free kick in a dangerous position. Nobody else was going to take it. You all know what happened next.
